Dr. Mary Baker was born in Midland, Michigan, and moved to Chicago at the age of three. Dr. Baker received her undergraduate degree in health sciences at the University of St. Thomas, in St. Paul, Minnesota. She then received her medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies, graduating cum laude. Dr. Baker’s internal medicine and pediatrics residency was completed at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria.
During her residency, Dr. Baker was co-president of the Doctors for Outreach and Community Services (DOCS), a non-profit, physician-run organization addressing locally relevant healthcare concerns, including homelessness and disaster relief. Dr. Baker currently volunteers at the Smith Clinic providing medical care for low-income, uninsured Georgetown Country Residents.
Dr. Baker is board-certified in internal medicine and pediatrics through both The American Board of Internal Medicine and The American Board of Pediatrics. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Baker joined Pawleys Pediatrics and Adult Medicine in 2014 and believes helping people is the most rewarding part of her career in medicine.
When Dr. Baker is not caring for her patients or volunteering her time, you can find her spending time with family and friends, out on the beach, or playing with her kids. Dr. Baker lives in Pawleys Island with her husband, David, and their two children Dominic and Rosie. The baker family has two dogs: Betty and Rocky.
