Dr. Scott Nicol was born in Frankfort, Kentucky, and received his undergraduate degree in biology, magna cum laude, at Transylvania University, in Lexington, Kentucky. He received his medical degree at the University of Louisville College of Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky graduating in the top 10% of his class in Biochemistry and Physiology. He completed his residency at the University of South Alabama in the university’s Internal Medicine and Pediatrics program.
Dr. Nicol joined Pawleys Pediatrics and Adult Medicine in 1999. With over twenty-two years of experience in internal medicine and pediatrics, he believes having a sense of connection with his patients and families is most enjoyable about his career. Having a feeling that he has made a positive impact on the lives of his patients in some way, however small, is what he finds most rewarding about his career in medicine.
Dr. Nicol is board-certified in internal medicine and pediatrics through the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons. He is licensed as a physician dually in South Carolina and Alabama and is a current member of the South Carolina Medical Association (SCMA).
Both of Dr. Nicol’s parents were physicians; having a front-row seat to his parent’s careers led him to pursue a career in medicine. When he is not at Pawleys Pediatrics and Adult Medicine caring for his patients, you can find him traveling, exercising, reading, or attending a live sporting event, specifically basketball or football. Dr. Nicol lives in Pawleys Island with his wife, Natasha, and two sons Aidan, and Drew. The Nicol family has two cats and one dog: Gandalf, Gimli, and Kaia.
